What is it?
Shortly after September 11th, 2001 a makeshift memorial sprung up in front of New York-New York in Las Vegas as passersby left t-shirts, cards, and personal notes on the fence in front of the hotel-casino. As the collection of items grew, operators of the hotel faced the very real problem of what to do with all of it. Instead of carting it away and putting it in boxes somewhere, they have instead constructed a permanent memorial to the victims of the terrorist attacks using the items left behind by Vegas visitors.
The memorial features display boxes with items that are be rotated periodically, plus plaques with quotes from great minds on the nature of courage.
