    Stratosphere Buffet: Full Review
As part of a $100 million renovation and expansion a few years ago, The Stratosphere remodeled and increased the size of their popular Courtyard Buffet a couple of years back. Clearly aimed at the kind of middle market crowd that most of the more expensive Strip buffets have abandoned, the buffet is what I like to call dependable, meaning it's certainly nothing to get excited about and it probably isn't anything worth going out of your way for, but the food is good, the environment is comfortable, and the prices are reasonable.

The new room is nice, but unremarkable. It has sort of a garden courtyard (hence the name, I suppose) with light wood trellises and an all-shades-of-beige color scheme. It's pleasant and larger than it used to be, now seating more than 400 people in a variety of booths and tables in main dining areas and smaller subdivided rooms.

As far as the food goes, they have gone the way of most buffets and added live-action stations, where you can wander from food group to food group instead of standing in one long buffet line. On our visit they had Chinese, Mexican, and Italian offerings, a full salad bar, a carving station, and a dessert section.

One interesting twist not usually included in buffets like this is the "American Bounty" section, filled with good old down home comfort food like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and the like. It's an interesting touch in a world of buffets that tend to eschew traditional favorites for more exotic fare.

Another highly laudable addition is the do-it-yourself drink station. One of my biggest pet peeves at buffets in Vegas is how they usually have wait staff serving drinks, and often due to the mechanics of the thing I find myself halfway through my meal before I get something to wash it down with. This open station with all manners of soda, tea, juices, and more ensures that you can get what you want when you want it with no delay from an overtaxed server.

As mentioned, prices are moderate with brunch under $10 and dinner $13-16 for theme nights like steak and seafood. Those certainly aren't the lowest prices in town but they are among the lowest on The Strip and so if you're looking for a dependable meal for a relatively low cost, The Stratosphere could be the place for you.
