Downtown Grand: Preview Information
After sitting closed for nearly six years, The Lady Luck in Downtown Las Vegas is finally getting a new lease on life - but it won't be as The Lady Luck.

Officials with the company that owns the mothballed hotel announced that they would be completing a long-planned renovation and will be renaming the hotel The Downtown Grand.

The hotel will be virtually unrecognizable when it reopens. All of the more than 600 guest rooms will be completely redone with new furnishings, decor, and technology; the casino will be completely redone and expanded to about 50,000 square-feet; there will be nearly a dozen new restaurants and seven bars or lounges; new shops and stores will be added; and a pool deck will be built on top of the casino that will include a new spa.

The Lady Luck name first became associated with the property in 1968 when new owner rebranded a small newsstand casino known as Honest John's. The hotel was added in the 1980s and expanded in the 1990s.

The Lady Luck closed in 2006 when then owners said they were going to be embarking on a one-year, $100 million renovation that would bring the property up to more modern standards. The project never got off the ground and the hotel changed owners several times before winding up with Los Angeles based CIM Group. They unveiled this renovation several years ago but it has taken this long for it to get moving, a process kick-started by the hiring of a local company, Fifth Street Gaming, to oversee the renovations and manage the casino when it opens.

April 2013 is the target reopening date.
