Binion's Horseshoe opened in 1951 along the famous Fremont Street, otherwise known as Glitter Gulch. Perhaps best known as the home for many years of the World Series of Poker, Binion's Horseshoe went bankrupt and closed in 2004 but was reopened shortly thereafter under a deal between Harrah's Entertainment and MTR Gaming. Harrah's took the World Series of Poker and the Horseshoe name and MTR took over, renaming the hotel Binion's. It was sold to the owner of The Four Queens, who currently operates the property, although as a casino only - the hotel portion is closed.
