Vegas4Visitors Museum: El Cortez

The El Cortez is one of the oldest continually operating hotel casinos in Las Vegas. Located on Fremont Street near Las Vegas Boulevard downtown, the hotel opened in the 1930s and was once owned by none other than Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel. It is still in business today.

This photograph is undated but judging from the vehicles on Fremont Street it was probably taken in the 1940s.

These adobe style buildings can still be seen at the El Cortez, which is still operating at the same location more than six decades later.
