Vegas4Visitors Museum: Fremont

When the Hotel Fremont was built on Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas in 1956 it featured a 15-story tower, the tallest building in Nevada at the time. It is still in business today as the Fremont Hotel & Casino in the same location along the Fremont Street Experience.

    Postcard - Aerial
The postcard shows an aerial view of the hotel. Fremont Street is in the foreground and Casino Center Drive is visible between the Fremont and Binion’s Horseshoe. The back of the postcard reads: "This multi-million dollar downtown hotel and casino has not only changed the Las Vegas skyline but has been designed and furnished to afford its guests the utmost in luxury and comfort."

    Postcard - Exterior
The second postcard shows both a day and night shot of the Fremont with Vegas Vic, the neon cowboy, splitting the frame. It’s not very visible in this scan but the marquee promotes a show featuring Kathryn Grayson and Jerry Collins. The back of the postcard reads: "This luxurious downtown hotel is one of the tallest and finest in the West. The world’s largest gambling center is on this famous corner."
