Vegas4Visitors Museum: The Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget Gambling Hall opened in the 40s on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, and its giant sign and bright lights pointed the direction for all of Las Vegas. A hotel was added in the 70s under the stewardship of Steve Wynn, who would go on to build The Mirage, Treasure Island, and Bellagio. It is still in business today as one of the premiere Downtown destinations and is now owned by the Landry Restaurant chain.

    60s Postcard - Exterior
This undated postcard is most likely from the 1960s based on the vehicles in the shot. It is looking Southeast along Casino Center Drive and Fremont Street - note Binion's Horseshoe in the foreground.

The back of the postcard reads: "This fabulous casino in downtown Las Vegas has a ‘new look’ with all its new neon signs that light up the sky for miles around."
