Vegas4Visitors Museum: The Royal Nevada (1950s)
The Royal Nevada opened in 1955 just south of the land that would be home to The Stardust three years later. The hotel had financial difficulties practically from day one, suffering in part with the competition of The Riviera and The Dunes, all of which opened within a couple of months of each other. The Royal Nevada closed in 1958 and was eventually converted into the convention center for neighboring Stardust.
