    There are two hiking trails that go around the beautiful Lake Las Vegas including a 3.5 "loop" and the Wetland Park trail that goes right along the waters' edge.

    Mount Charleston

    One of the most scenic areas in the Las Vegas Valley, this recreation area features hiking and horseback riding in the summer and skiing and snowboarding during the winter. A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Vegas.

    Red Rock Canyon
    Take Charleston Road about 13 miles west of Las Vegas.

    If traffic is good you can get here in about 20 minutes from The Strip. There's a ton of hiking trails or if you're lazy you can drive the 13-mile scenic loop. Stop at the visitors center near the main park entrance for more details.

    Parks
    Henderson Bird Preserve

    A 140-acre facility home to thousands of migratory waterfowl and desert birds with several hiking and viewing trails throughout. To get there, take Flamingo Rd. east to Boulder Highway and turn right, go to Sunset Rd. and turn left, go to Moser Dr. and turn left. The preserve is at the end of the street.

    Lorenzi Park
    Washington St. near Rancho Rd.
    Lake, museums, playgrounds, jogging, gardens, lawns, and more. To get there take Sahara west from The Strip to Rancho Road and turn right. Take Rancho north to Washington Street and turn left. The park is on your left.

    The Springs Preserve

    Opened in 2007, this brilliant and beautiful cultural and environmental oasis covers 180 acres and features an interpretive center, desert living educational facilities, historical attractions, hiking trails, botanical gardens, wetlands, and much more.     Sunset Park
    Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue
    Jogging, swimming, tennis, gardens, and more. To get there take the Strip south to Sunset Road and turn left. The park is on the southeast corner of Sunset and Eastern, just past McCarran airport.

    UNLV Botanical Gardens
    Paradise Road and Tropicana Avenue
    Arboretum and walking paths. A lovely respite from the Vegas hubbub. Take Flamingo to Paradise and turn right. Take Paradise to the main entrance of UNLV.
