Las Vegas is served by McCarran International Airport - a clean, comfortable, and modern facility with plenty of slot machines just in case you can't wait to get to your hotel to begin gambling.
McCarran Airport is located very close to The Strip, less than half a mile from hotels like the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay. It is accessible via Tropicana Blvd. at Paradise Road or via the Interstate 215 Bypass. There are two terminals at McCarran. The main one, Terminal 1, is primarily for domestic flights has four concourses of gates marked A, B, C, and D. The A and B gates are connected by a very long hallway and moving walkways to the baggage claim and ticketing area. The C gates are connected by a similar hallway and an automated tram. Hint -- if your gate is C24 through C27 skip the tram and take the hallway - it's shorter. The D gates are connected by an automated tram. Terminal 2 only has a few gates and is primarily used for international travel and some smaller domestic airlines. This terminal will be closing in 2012 when a new, modern Terminal 3 opens. It too will primarily serve international passengers. The baggage claim, ticketing, and some other services including remote hotel check-in desks are concentrated in the center of the main Terminal 1. Slot machines, video poker machines, stores, and restaurants are scattered throughout the terminal and gate areas. The main terminal also has a fully-staffed USO lounge for military personnel and their families. It provides food, snacks, computer access, television viewing, games, and more. There is no smoking allowed inside any terminal and there are no exterior smoking lounges available after you pass security. There are taxi lines just outside the baggage claim areas. This is also where you'll find the various shuttle buses that can deliver you to your hotel for a charge. Very few hotels run free shuttles. The airport also has a full rental car facility with all of the major companies represented. For more information about the airport:
