Vegas for Gays and Lesbians
Vegas is not a town that shocks easily. Hell, with Paris Hilton and the cast of "The Hills" showing up so often, you gotta figure that they've seen just about everything.

But Vegas is also a town that draws a wide spectrum of people from all over the world, many of whom might not be comfortable with public displays of gay affection. Whether or not you choose to have a "that's their problem" attitude is totally up to you, but it is worth noting that much of the crowd here is often aggressively straight. You'll never hear the word "dude" used so often in your entire life.

So just be aware that if you decide to hold hands with your partner/spouse/weekend fling by the pool or plant a kiss on them after a great blackjack hand, you're bound to get some negative reactions. These reactions will rarely devolve into danger but just be aware of your surroundings. If you're sharing a craps table with a heavy drinking Bubba and his pick-up driving yee-haw friends, you may want to tone things down a little.

Most of the gay life in Vegas, as in many other cities, is centered on the gay bars and clubs in town. There is one on The Strip, Krave, but most of the others are spread out around various parts of town.

The most concentrated selection is located on Paradise Road, just south of Harmon (and the Hard Rock Hotel) where you'll find half-a-dozen bars including high-energy dance clubs, an ultra-lounge, a leather (lite) bar, and a neighborhood style bar all congregated around the same intersection. Most of the crowd that goes to these places are tourists - you'll rarely find a local unless they are looking for a tourist to take home.

There are a few more collected together at the Sahara Commercial Center at 953 E. Sahara, just east of the Sahara Hotel and Casino. These are more grungy (and I mean that in a good way) than the Paradise bars and it is here that you'll also find a couple of men's "spas." These bars have a heavier population of Las Vegas locals.

There are no dedicated lesbian bars in Vegas but several have lesbian nights.

Check the Gay Bars & Clubs page of the Nightlife section for more information about these places.

There is only one gay resort in town, the Blue Moon, a clothing optional hotel near Sahara and I-15 that caters to gay men. You can get more information on their website at BlueMoonLV.com.

The major hotels in town are not really "gay friendly" but more "money friendly." For the most part they don't care who you are sharing a bed with, they just want your cash.
