Unlike sister outlet center Las Vegas Premium Outlets North, which is packed with high-end retailers, the "South" version of the outlet mall is a little bit more representative of the kinds of stores you'll find in your local mall. Gap, Guess, Famous Footwear, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic are a few examples, only here they are outlet versions selling discounted merchandise that is overstock, out of season, or slightly irregular. Basically you pay less by buying things that are not "of the moment."
The mall got an overhaul in 2011, at least to the outside of it, which made it look a lot more like its northern sibling. It's all desert earth tones and palm trees, which is nice, I guess, but you're not going to be spending a lot of time in the parking lot staring at the place presumably. Once you get inside, not a lot has changed, which is both good and bad. The good is that, also unlike the North outlets, this place is fully enclosed - ah blessed air conditioning. The bad news is that it feels a little dated and cramped in spots. The ceilings are low and the pathways are narrow at least compared to newer, more modern malls, so there can be a claustrophobia quotient at work here especially if there are a lot of people fighting for walking space.
And while you may not find thrift store level bargains here, you can get some good deals and will absolutely be paying less for similar merchandise than you will in the regular versions of these stores.
If you need a break from shopping - or need something to make the kids stop whining - they have a giant indoor carousel that is worth a spin or two.
