| Tournament of Kings: Full Review | ||||||||||||||
|
If a medieval dinner theater, complete with costumed serving wenches, a joust, and food eaten with your hands sounds like a fun night out, you can't do any better than Tournament of Kings. The production values, performances, and food are all better than what you'd find at that national chain that does pretty much the same thing. Elevated tables ring a small-stadium sized performance area where kings, knights on horseback, ladies fair, court jesters, and wizards all wage a battle between good an evil. You're assigned a side to root for and audience participation is strongly, almost tirelessly, encouraged. It's all heavily scripted and the outcome is not left to chance, but the enthusiasm of both the actors and the crowd (if they're so inclined) can be infectious. This is a great show for kids, although teenagers will probably be too cynical for the festivities. Adult fans of the genre should have a great time. But be warned: if the thought of this type of entertainment makes you roll your eyes, this production isn't going to change your mind, no matter how well they do it.
